I’m a mom of two little ones who appreciates a good glass of wine. The problem is, I have a Rombaur palate with a  Charles Shaw budget. And it turns out that juice boxes and ballet classes trump the wine budget in my house, so I’m on a mission to stock my wine rack without breaking the bank.

I’m a former journalist and have been in public relations for eight years, but my love is still writing, which I like to pair with good wine and food.

If you’re a winery and would like me to review your wine, please leave a comment, email at mamaswinerack@gmail.com or direct message me on Twitter @Vino_Beth. Please remember that I write about value wines — that means affordable, not cheap. I occasionally taste more expensive wines if there is something newsworthy about it (I LOVE to taste eco-responsible wines).

  1. Hey, Beth, since you’re visiting Oregon, you should check out some of our trip last summer. We’ve reviewed nine wineries at http://californiawinefan.com/oregon-wineries-nine-of-the-best-for-pinot-noir/ and there’s an overview of our two-week jaunt at http://californiawinefan.com/oregon-wineries-road-trip-overview/. We’ll be at the Pinot on the River festival in Healdsburg Oct. 23 and will be tweeting from about 11 am – 2 pm from @cawinefan.

If you’re not familiar with the International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC), it’s held in McMinnville the last weekend of July. We went this year and were wowed. Our review is at http://californiawinefan.com/ipnc-worth-a-visit/

Nice running across your Twitter profile. Oh, yeah, value wines: Trader Joe’s has started selling pinots (and others) under their own labels. We really liked the Willamette Valley pinot that sold as VinTJs. Sadly, it is now out of stock (with considerable help from us). But right now I’m sipping a Central Coast pinot that goes for $6.99 — an incredible value.

  2. Hi Tony – I’ll be heading to Oregon for Christmas and will have to schedule a stop at some of those on your list while I’m there. I’ve tasted in the Veneta area (Willamette Valley) but that’s about as far as I’ve ventured. Do you know about the Wine Bloggers Conference? It’ll be in Portland in August. http://winebloggersconference.org/america/ I’m hoping to go! Anyway, thanks for the winery tips, and the Trader Joe’s heads-up. I love browsing the wine aisle at our local TJ!
